Medication and Health Needs
Medication of any type will not be given to a student except when the following conditions are met:
1. A
written order from the physician who issued the prescription is given
to school officials informing the school personnel of the type of
medication and specifying the time at which the medication should be
given.
2. The medication is brought to school in an appropriately marked container and given to school officials.
Prescription
medications will be dispensed only with written parental consent and
specific directions from a physician. Medications must be brought to
school by the PARENT and the medication must be in the original
container with prescribed directions for use when given to school
officials. The school must have a physician’s order signed by the
child’s doctor and the parent must also complete the required
documentation consenting to the guidelines prescribed by the district
before medication may be given to a student by school nurse or a
designated school staff member.
